Diplomas Awarded to the 35th Graduating Class of Klaipeda University During a Ceremonial Celebration

On 30 January, Klaipeda University (KU) held a formal diploma award ceremony to honour and bid farewell to its 35th graduating class. During the ceremony, higher education diplomas were awarded to more than 200 graduates who completed shorter-cycle Bachelor’s (3.5-year) and Master’s (1.5-year) study programmes. In 2025, as many as 11 doctoral students successfully defended their dissertations and were awarded the degree of Doctor of Science.

In his congratulatory address, Klaipeda University Rector Prof. Dr Artūras Razbadauskas emphasised that the University is more than just studies for its graduates—it is a space where every student is recognised through their ideas, efforts, and growth. According to the Rector, “Here you are visible” is not only University slogan, but also a principle that reflects closer relationships with lecturers, increased feedback, and real opportunities for students to engage in projects, internships, research, and international experiences.

The Rector highlighted Klaipeda University’s distinctiveness and clear regional mission, reflected in its efforts to address issues related to climate change, environmental protection, the future of coastal areas, human health, and regional history. It was also noted with pride that this year the University is celebrating its 35th anniversary, marked by initiatives dedicated to students, staff, and the city, as well as consistent investments in the quality of studies and student life—through infrastructure development and long-term planning of the overall student experience.

Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral Graduates

The largest number of Master’s degree graduates were in the Education Management and Nursing programmes.

During the celebration, doctoral diplomas were presented by KU Rector Prof. Dr Artūras Razbadauskas and KU Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Assoc. Prof. Dr Laura Šaltytė-Vaisiauskė. Doctoral diplomas were awarded to Virginija Ramašauskienė, who defended her dissertation in the field of Management Sciences entitled “Development of Leadership Competencies Determining Organisational Resilience in Business Organisations” (supervisor: Prof. Dr Erika Župerkienė), and to Rima Karsokienė, who defended her dissertation in the field of Management Sciences entitled “Managing Tourism Supply Chain to Improve Destination Sustainability and Resilience” (supervisor: Assoc. Outstanding Academic Achievements Recognised with Honours and Awards

The knowledge and performance of three graduates from this class were assessed with the highest grades, and they were awarded diplomas with distinction: Master’s graduates Dominykas Bartkus and Larisa Jasienė from the National Security programme, and Nursing Master’s graduate Monika Vilkytė.

We are pleased to note that KU’s cooperation with social partners continues to grow stronger. Starting this year, Klaipėda University Hospital (KUL) will award named scholarships to graduates of the KU Faculty of Health Sciences for the best final theses.

This year, Klaipėda University Hospital Director General Prof. Dr Audrius Šimaitis presented two named awards: to Nursing Master’s programme graduate Rasa Šveistrienė for her Master’s thesis “Quality of Life of Patients with Colon Cancer and Their Perception of the Disease”, and to Radiology Bachelor’s programme graduate Ernestas Mikšėnas for his Bachelor’s thesis “Early Diagnosis of Lung Cancer and Low-Dose Computed Tomography”.
