Klaipeda University maintains close contact with the Embassy of Ukraine, and has expressed strong support since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. KU has Ukrainian lecturers and a large number of Ukrainian students.
The Ambassador presented Prof. Dr. A. Razbadauskas, the Rector of KU, with the award of Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kyiv and All Ukraine (the Orthodox Church of Ukraine) – a certificate of appreciation and a medal – for his aid to Ukraine.
“We are very grateful to the Rector and the entire Klaipeda University community for their support during this difficult time. I would also like to stress that we have maintained relations before the war. For a long time, we have been trying to improve higher education in Ukraine and reach European standards. We are looking forward to further cooperation,” said Mr. P. Beshta.
Ambassador Mr. P. Beshta also met with Ukrainian students, lecturers, and other Ukrainians from Klaipėda in KU Senate Hall. During a question-and-answer session, everyone was able to talk to the Ambassador and ask questions.
The session focused on the situation in Ukraine, possible future scenarios, integration of Ukrainians as well as study and work opportunities at Klaipeda University.
